How it works

From scattered documentsto a prepared visit.

Medbook processes your documents once, organises them into a lasting record and reuses it for every visit that follows – always linked to the original.

  • The original is the source of truth
  • Every fact has a source
  • The doctor decides

1. Sources

Where the data comes from

Your record draws on several sources and always shows where each item came from.

  • Planned

    NZIS

We plan an official integration so that data already held in the national system flows in. It will never be charged for.

  • PDFs, photos and scans

Discharge summaries, test results and consultations – including old documents you only have on paper.

  • Information you add

You can also add things by hand. They are always clearly marked and never mixed with data from documents.

2. Processing

How a document becomes a record

The original document remains the source of truth. Everything else is derived from it and leads back to it.

  1. 1. Recognition

The text is read from the image, and the system suggests the document type, date and healthcare facility.

  2. 2. Structuring

Diagnoses, medicines, test results, procedures and allergies are extracted as separate facts – each with its source.

  3. 3. A record over time

Facts are arranged in a timeline and series, without being duplicated with every new document.

  4. 4. Linked to the original

Every fact leads to the document and page it came from. Where something is uncertain, that is shown.

3. Results

One record, three different views

The same history is presented differently depending on who is reading it and why. The doctor always reviews, edits and decides.

  • General Doctor Dossier

For the doctor: a professional synthesis of the history – timeline, diagnoses, medicines and how test results have changed.

  • In development

    Specialty Pre-Visit

For the specialist: the history seen through their specialty – nephrology, endocrinology and cardiology first. Verified doctors only.

  • In development

    Patient AI

For you: a plain-language explanation and a suggestion of when to talk to a doctor. No diagnoses.

4. The visit

Three paths to a prepared visit

However it starts, the record stays yours and is reused with the next doctor.

  • Patient → specialist

You have an appointment with a specialist and share your record for that visit. The doctor opens it already organised.

  • Specialist → patient

Your doctor sends you an invitation for the upcoming visit. You add your documents and the visit is prepared.

    • Personal link
    • QR code in the practice
    • Invitation from the doctor
    • Calendar import – planned
  • GP → specialist

You send new results to your GP. They decide the next step and, if needed, refer you to a specialist – with your record already in place.

Boundaries

What Medbook is not

Clear boundaries are part of trust.

  • Not NZIS and not a replacement for it – it uses it as a source
  • Not a full medical information system – doctors keep their own software
  • Not a booking platform – it works with the way you already book
  • Not a chatbot you upload random files to
  • Not an autonomous diagnostician – decisions stay with the doctor
  • Not a one-off file for a single visit – the record stays yours

Identity and access

You know who is on the other side

  • Planned

    Verified identity

We plan secure electronic identification, for example through Evrotrust, so it's certain the record is yours.

  • Verified doctors

Professional profiles go through a check of the doctor's UIN and specialty before accessing any patient data.

  • Strong authentication

Doctors sign in with two-factor authentication, and access to a record is limited to a specific visit.

Security and data

The doctor always decides

Medbook is in development and does not replace a doctor's assessment. Specialty preparation (Clinical AI) will be available only to verified medical professionals and only within the applicable regulatory framework (EU Medical Device Regulation 2017/745). Patient AI explains, but it does not diagnose.
